WELLCOME TO “MAENO IE OSAKI”
Located on the quiet west coast of Awaji Island, Maeno Ie Osaki is a private, whole-house rental transformed from a 100-year-old kimono merchant’s residence.
We offer an authentic connection to Awaji Island—historically known as Miketsukuni (the royal food province supplying the Imperial Court). Guided personally by the owner, you can meet local fishermen and farmers, explore pristine beaches, or visit Ei, a town with centuries of incense-making heritage. Discover a deeper, more personal side of Japan.

Feature 1: Local Breakfast
Breakfast Made with Fresh Local Produce
Our guests’ favorite memory is a fresh breakfast packed with local flavors.
Enjoy vibrant salads, Japanese whitebait (shirasu) rice bowls with fresh shiso and roasted nori, or Western-style choices (fresh bread, yogurt). Custom requests like homemade pizza are also available.
Included in your stay. Please let us know your breakfast choice by the day before.

Feature 2: Morning Walk
Guided Morning Walk into Local Life
After breakfast, join us for a guided stroll to hidden local gems:
- A neighborhood farm
- Local organic herb & vegetable gardens (Fresh Group)
- SAKIA, a stylish cultural complex inside a renovated former elementary school
- Secret scenic viewpoints overlooking the sea
It’s not typical sightseeing—it’s a quiet walk into authentic daily life.

Feature 3:Fish Market Experience
Watch a Live Local Fish Auction
Just a 3-minute walk from the house is a bustling local fishing port. Around noon, watch the lively fish auction up close—a rare experience in Japan. If you’re lucky, local fishermen will show you the morning’s catch and explain what makes Awaji’s seafood so exceptional.

Feature 4: Hospitality & Local Support
English Support & Local Transportation
There is plenty more to explore nearby: beautiful beaches, historic incense workshops in Ei, Izanagi Shrine (Japan’s oldest mythic origin site), local farm markets, and so on.
We offer complimentary local car rides for your trips during your stay, plus English translation support so you can easily chat and interact with local villagers.
